What gives us shadows?
Yes - our beautiful sun ... and other lights too - like firelight, candles, lamps, torches, electric lights and even a full moon!
Now Peppy the Circus Clown is going to show you some of the things that shadows can do.

BACKGROUND
In illustrating the above story, I made a small model of Peppy the Clown out of plasticine.
Then I pushed him into different poses and photographed him with the sun coming from different sides
so that I could see what shapes to draw the shadows. Afterwards, I had fun trying out different colours for
his clothing with paint and inks. Here are some pictures of my little model and a colour tryout...
You could take your favourite toy out into the sunshine
too and watch what happens when you put it at different angles to the sun or just have
fun playing with your shadow!
Maybe you could even draw
